He lost to Mikhail Youzhny in the first round, and in the double round, he reached in semifinals partnered with Dmitry Tursunov but lost against Denis Istomin and Dominic Inglot.

In the Australian Open 2021, Karatsev defeated Max Purcell, Brandon Nakashima, and Alexandre Müller in his debut match.
