Emma Stone and SNL writer Dave McCary announced their engagement last December. He got to announce it on his Instagram, because Emma doesn’t have an official IG. I loved their engagement mostly because I enjoyed the off-beat pearl-and-diamond engagement ring, which suits Emma’s personality. They scheduled a smallish wedding in March of this year… but they had to cancel the wedding at the last minute because of the pandemic. I could have sworn that there were rumors about Emma and Dave still doing some kind of tiny wedding in March or April, but I guess I didn’t cover it, or maybe I’m just misremembering it. In any case, it’s looking like they did get married at some point this year!
Emma Stone and Dave McCary are married, Page Six has confirmed. After photos of Stone, 31, and McCary, 35, surfaced this week showing the couple wearing matching gold bands, a source told us they have definitely tied the knot.
Page Six previously reported that the couple postponed their March wedding amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Oscar-winning actress and McCary, a former segment director on “Saturday Night Live,” announced their engagement on social media in December 2019. In the selfie, posted to McCary’s Instagram, Stone smiles as she holds up her pearl engagement ring. The pair were first romantically linked in October 2017, but actually met when she hosted “SNL” in 2016. Reps did not immediately return our request for comment.
I’m happy for them. It’s nice that they were able to quietly pull off a pandemic wedding at some point, somewhere. I would assume that we didn’t hear about it before now because they probably didn’t get to invite anyone but their parents. I would love to see Emma’s dress, but I bet we’ll never get to see it. I want to see her originally-planned dress and what she eventually wore to her pandemic wedding.
Also: the reason why people are even talking about “did Emma and Dave quietly marry” is because of the new photos of them this week, where Emma seems to be quite obviously pregnant. Like, she’s pretty far along. Pandemic weddings and pandemic pregnancies are the other huge trend, along with pandemic breakups.
