A Sydney constable has been charged with stalking and accessing restricted data on government computers without authorisation.
The charges follow a six-month investigation into allegations a NSW police officer gained unauthorised access to police computers and Roads and Maritime Services computer systems.
Officers from the Campbelltown City Police Area Command will allege that the 36-year-old constable accessed restricted data on five separate occasions before December last year.
The constable, who is attached to a command within the South West Metropolitan Region, is also charged with stalking or intimidation with the intent to cause fear.
He was issued a future court attendance notice on Tuesday for the six charges but was not arrested.
The constable is due to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on July 12.
NSW Police have confirmed his employment status is now under review.
